When Wang first laid eyes on what appeared to be an adorable white puppy, she was charmed by the idea of welcoming it into her family. Like many animal lovers, she brought the furry friend home, showering it with love and care. However, what she thought was a cute puppy turned out to be something entirely different, and it wasn’t until over a year later that Wang made a startling discovery.
The transformation was gradual yet puzzling. Wang noticed the fur becoming thicker at three months old, a more pointed face, and an unusually long tail for a typical dog. Her pet even intimidated other dogs. Confused and concerned, she decided to consult an expert, which ultimately led to an unexpected revelation.
It turned out that Wang had unknowingly been raising a fox!
In some parts of Asia, it’s not uncommon for unscrupulous breeders to sell foxes as other purebred dogs like Japanese Spitzes, fetching considerable sums of money. This revelation left Wang in a dilemma – should she part with the animal she had raised for a year or keep it in captivity?
Wang’s decision was guided by her desire for the animal to lead its best life. If that meant not keeping it at home, she was willing to make that choice. She decided to entrust the fox’s care to the zoo, where it could receive daily attention and nutritious food. Additionally, she might even have the opportunity to visit it there.
