On the snowy outskirts of a quiet Russian town, an elderly woman lived a solitary life. Her door was always open to those in need, so when a group of hunters passed through, she welcomed them in for a warm meal. They had brought three puppies with them, leaving the litter on the porch while they rested inside.
By the time the hunters departed the next morning, they had taken two of the dogs but left the runt of the litter behind. Seeing the weak, abandoned creature wandering her front yard, the woman’s heart melted. She decided to take him in, naming him Volchok.
She raised him with tender care, and Volchok grew into a fiercely loyal companion. However, he was different from other dogs. He never barked—he only let out a low, rumbling growl. But the woman didn’t mind; she loved him just the same.
A year later, a gang of criminals began targeting the town, unnerving the residents. One night, the men approached the old woman’s isolated house, intent on robbery. Terrified, she braced for the worst. But as they broke in, Volchok revealed his true nature.
