Ohio’s law enforcement community bid a heartfelt farewell to K9 Tommy, a dedicated German Shepherd who served the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for seven years. Tragically, Tommy had to be euthanized due to aggressive cancer. Jeremy Berger, his handler, made the difficult decision when Tommy’s pain became unbearable and he could no longer perform his duties.

Tommy’s years of unwavering service did not go unnoticed. Law enforcement agencies from across Ohio, along with their K9 partners, gathered to pay their respects to this loyal companion. They assembled outside the Blanchard Valley Veterinary Clinic for a poignant salute to Tommy.
As Tommy was gently carried to the car on a stretcher, a flag was draped over him. Officers and their K9s observed a minute of silence, honoring their fallen colleague. The moment was deeply emotional for Jeremy, his family, and all those in attendance.

Following the tribute, Jeremy and his family had their final moments with Tommy. The radio echoed with the final call, a touching farewell to their faithful partner.

Ohio’s officers were profoundly moved by the emotional farewell, recognizing Tommy’s dedicated service to the citizens of Ohio. While his watch had ended, his memory would forever live on. Tommy, like many K9 heroes, had given his all, and his legacy would remain in their hearts. Rest in peace, Tommy. You were indeed a good boy. 🐾🇺🇸
