When a foster mom opened her doors to Butter—a Beagle rescued from a breeding facility—and her seven puppies, the emotional toll on the mother dog was heartbreakingly clear. Having spent her life in a cage, Butter was terrified of the outside world, refusing to make eye contact and hiding under furniture.

Enter Jasmyne. She is the foster mom’s own dog, a 100-pound deaf “gentle giant” with an abundance of love to give. Sensing Butter’s overwhelm, Jasmyne intuitively stepped in as a co-parent. She became the puppies’ self-appointed nanny, offering them snuggles, playtime, and a watchful eye.

Watching Jasmyne gently care for her babies changed everything for Butter. Seeing the giant dog’s kindness helped Butter realize she was safe. Slowly, the traumatized Beagle emerged from her shell, learning to trust not just Jasmyne, but her new human environment as well.

Today, Jasmyne starts every morning by checking on “her” puppies, her tail wagging with joy. It is a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the best medicine for a broken heart is the company of a good friend.
