Rowdy and Rigby have shared their lives for nearly two wonderful years, forging a bond that is nothing short of magical. These two companions bring each other so much joy, embracing every moment together, despite the stark differences in their personalities.
“Rowdy is a rule-follower who trembles at the thought of disorder. He’s the kind of dog that will wake me up if my alarm doesn’t go off, sensing that something is amiss,” shared Luke Swanberg, their devoted dad, in an interview with The Dodo. “On the other hand, Rigby is pure love. He delights in snuggling and showering kisses on everyone. When he plays, he’s a bundle of energy, bouncing around like a little goofball, especially during games of keep-away. Sure, they occasionally squabble over toys and who gets the most affection, but more often than not, they curl up together, a picture of companionship.”

Regardless of their quirks, these two steadfast pups are inseparable, weathering the storms of life together. One of their favorite pastimes? Cuddling closely, often in the same dog bed, which was actually designed for just one. That’s when Luke had a brilliant idea — why not build them bunk beds? This innovative creation would ensure that they could always be together, snuggled up, as they drifted off to sleep.
“It started as a whimsical thought. I crafted the bunk beds, but they didn’t turn out so well at first, so they sat unused for a while,” Luke recalled. “It wasn’t until recently that I dedicated a weekend to perfecting them. I still need to add some steps for the boys, so they can hop in and out of the top bunk with ease.”

When Rowdy and Rigby first laid eyes on their new bunk beds, it was love at first sight. They quickly made themselves at home, spending every possible moment nestled in their cozy haven. However, true to their affectionate nature, they still prefer to share the bottom bunk, unable to resist the comfort of being close to each other.
“They’ve taken to the bunk beds like a dream,” Luke smiled. “I find it nearly impossible to get them to come out for their nighttime routine. Even when I come home from work, instead of rushing to greet me, they just lounge in their beds. The bottom bunk may not have a designated spot, but it’s clearly the favored choice until I can construct some steps.”

Perhaps one day, once the steps are installed, Rowdy and Rigby will utilize their respective bunks. But with their genuine affection for one another, it seems unlikely — these two cherished brothers thrive on sharing their love and warmth.
