“Rowdy is a rule-follower and gets very anxious when things aren’t just-so,” Luke Swanberg, their devoted dad, shared with The Dodo. “He even wakes me up if my alarm doesn’t go off, sensing that something isn’t right. Rigby, on the other hand, is a big-hearted lover who thrives on snuggling and showering us with kisses. When it’s playtime, he turns into a bouncing bundle of joy, engaging in a game of keep-away. Though they bicker over toys and who gets the most pets, their favorite pastime is curling up together, even in a bed that was only supposed to fit one.”
Despite their differences, the heartwarming duo has always been there for each other through thick and thin. As their bond deepened, a peculiar challenge presented itself: their single dog bed wasn’t cutting it anymore. They adored snuggling together, but it was evident that they needed a solution that could accommodate their undeniable connection.
Inspired by their devotion, Luke decided to create a pair of bunk beds, a whimsical idea sparked by their need for closeness. “Initially, the bunk beds didn’t turn out great and we didn’t use them for a while,” Luke admitted. “But after a weekend of hard work, I finally finished them! I’m still planning to make steps for them to climb up and down easily.”
When Rowdy and Rigby laid eyes on their new bunk beds, you could almost hear the spark of excitement. They instantly took to the quirky structures, diving into their new sleeping quarters with enthusiasm. But, in a twist that surprised even their dad, the brothers preferred the embrace of the bottom bunk, nestled together in a cozy cuddle.
“They’ve been using the beds nonstop,” Luke chuckled. “I can’t seem to get them out to go out at night! Normally, when I come home from work, they rush to greet me, but today, they barely moved from their comfy spot. Until I put in those steps, it looks like the bottom bunk is their favorite.”
Perhaps once the steps are added, Rowdy and Rigby will experiment with their newfound space, savoring a bit of independence.
