A rescue puppy named Abe, along with his sister, was saved from Puerto Rico. While his sister Abbie found a home without any issues, Abe’s journey took a different turn. Adopted and subsequently returned, Abe caught the attention of John, an online editor at The Dodo, who learned about his heartbreaking tale from his coworker Jordan.

Given The Dodo’s animal-centric work environment, dogs are naturally welcomed in the office. After being returned for the first time, Abe found another forever home, prompting the office to throw a goodbye party. Despite initial joy, John was dismayed to discover a few days later that Abe had been returned once again, leaving him puzzled and concerned.

Determined to change Abe’s fate, John decided to make a difference in the pup’s life. He called his girlfriend and informed her that he was bringing the dog home. Renaming him Bean, after Kobe Bryant’s middle name, John and his girlfriend committed to providing a fresh start for the deserving pup. They vowed to keep Bean with them until he found a permanent home that wouldn’t return him.

As time passed, John discovered the likely reason for Abe’s repeated returns – the puppy was destructive and required significant discipline. In a video, John remarked, “there’s no end to the devastation this puppy can cause.” Unfortunately, Bean had to relocate with his foster parents when Covid hit, leaving John saddened as the pup had just begun adjusting to his new Brooklyn foster home. The story unfolds further, creating a narrative that shouldn’t be missed!
