In December, Feleciana Ramirez became aware of a distressing case where a dog had been discovered locked inside a wooden dog house near the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City. With a utility ax in hand, Feleciana broke open the sealed dog house and was relieved to find the dog still alive. Despite the dire circumstances, the dog showed no signs of distress or whimpering. Recognizing the severity of the situation, Feleciana promptly brought the dog to OKC Animal Welfare for immediate care and attention.
Road to Recovery
The dog, later named Karus, was placed under the care of the nonprofit organization Mutts Misfits Animal Rescue Society. Their Facebook post described the grim condition in which Karus was discovered: left near the river without food or water, with visible scratch marks on the entrance indicating his desperate attempts to escape. Karus bore physical and emotional scars, likely enduring prolonged suffering even before being confined in the wooden box.
Despite his traumatic past, Karus displayed a sweet and gentle disposition, capturing the hearts of those involved in his rescue. He was entrusted to the foster care of Kayla Wise, who witnessed firsthand the significant progress he made.
