A heartless owner tossed a dog into the rushing waters of Lake Wister Dam, Oklahoma, where she was found trapped. A video of the dog was posted by Madison Reneè, who asked for help to rescue her. Several people came to help, but the dam was too deep for them to get into. However, a group of over eight rescuers, including volunteer firefighter Aaron Capell, arrived with a boat to rescue the dog. They tied a rope to Capell’s boat and pushed it further into the dam to get close to the dog. After shutting off the dam, Capell reached the dog, who was scared and skittish, but he eventually gained her trust and pulled her onto the boat. Mike Young, one of the other rescuers, took the dog to the Poteau Valley Humane Society.

The dog, now known as Grace, had a happy ending as her rescue video touched many people, and she had several adoption applications in no time. James and Paula Watson were chosen to adopt Grace after losing one of their rescue dogs. The couple said there was an instant connection between them and Grace, and she ran to James immediately, indicating they made the right decision. The Porteau Valley Humane Society has other animals looking for forever homes, so they encourage people looking for a new family member to consider adopting a dog in need.

This inspiring story of volunteer firefighters rescuing a dog in danger and her subsequent adoption by a loving family highlights the importance of rescuing animals in need.
