When Stephen and Jessica tied the knot in 2021, the idea of expanding their family led them to seek a four-legged companion. Visiting a nearby shelter, they stumbled upon an abandoned Pitbull pup and immediately felt a connection.
However, post-adoption, an unexpected facet of the Pitbull breed surfaced—one that no one had cautioned them about beforehand.
Koby, part of a litter of eight, found himself abandoned at a shelter merely four weeks after birth. Disregarded by breeders due to being “impure,” this litter faced an uncertain fate.
Recalling the heart-wrenching scene, Koby’s owner mentioned, “Dumped at the front door. The typical put in a box, turn away, don’t look back.”
Fortunately, Ollie’s Angels, a foster-based rescue, intervened, offering to take in the entire litter. Amongst the predominantly gray and white puppies, Koby stood out as the sole tan pup.
The moment Stephen and Jessica cradled him, an instant bond formed. Within an hour, Koby found himself heading to his new home.
Initial nights posed challenges, but a specially designed stuffed toy, pulsating with a simulated heartbeat, brought solace to Koby. Even now, two years later, he cherishes his blankets and seeks comfort by snuggling close to his humans, almost inseparable from them.
Koby’s emotions reflect vividly in his expressive eyes. His deep attachment translates into poignant displays, especially when parted from his “pawrents.” His anticipation builds well ahead of his dad’s return, culminating in a shower of affection upon his arrival.
Stephen noted, “There’s one thing they don’t tell you when you get a Pitbull is that they require extreme cuddles.”
A surprising revelation post-adoption was the Pitbull’s insatiable love for snuggling. Expect an abundance of affectionate gestures—licks, kisses, and cuddles—when welcoming a Pitbull into your family fold.
