Actor Russell Crowe was dealt a devastating blow when his beloved 16-month-old Papillon named Louis was hit by a truck on March 30, which is also the anniversary of his father’s passing.
The heartbroken Crowe took to Twitter to share the tragic news that Louis died in his arms while they were on their way to the vet. In his tweet, Crowe described Louis as “tiny, cheeky, brave” and a pup who had won his heart. He also posted a photo of the adorable butterfly-eared dog that accompanied his tweet, which prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans and friends.

Fellow actor and producer Vincent D’Onofrio expressed his sympathy and said that his heart goes out to Crowe. Irish singer-songwriter Janet Devlin also offered her condolences and described Louis as a special little guy. During an interview on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Crowe got emotional and started to cry when asked about Louis.

He said that Louis was a beautiful little pup who had wrapped their lives around him and that it would take some time to get past his loss. Losing a pet is never easy, as they become a part of the family from the day they are brought home.
