Witnessing this harrowing incident, compassionate individuals immediately intervened, rushing to her rescue. Swiftly, she was taken to Prince George County Animal Control, and from there, she was entrusted to Mutts Matter Rescue, a nonprofit dedicated to aiding shelter dogs facing dire circumstances.

Enter Debbie Gretz, a dedicated volunteer at Mutts Matter Rescue, who took Violet under her wing. With experience in rehabilitating neglected dogs, Debbie understood the path towards recovery. Her first encounter with the emaciated Violet painted a grim picture – a skeletal dog who had barely survived, radiating hope in her eyes. Determined, Debbie embarked on a mission to restore Violet’s health and faith in humanity.
The Road to Recovery
Debbie’s devotion to Violet was unwavering. She recalls those initial days, where Violet’s frailty was a testament to her suffering. Her nurturing touch and endless care helped Violet regain her strength, healing from both physical and emotional wounds. Weighing a mere 52 pounds, a stark contrast to the ideal weight of her breed, Violet’s journey was far from easy. Pressure sores and scars from a life of neglect bore witness to her past, but her spirit remained unbroken.
