Derby, the Husky, faced difficulties in walking and running due to his deformities in his front legs. Despite being rescued by a shelter, his mobility issues made it challenging for him to find a permanent home. Even using a wheelchair didn’t work out well, as it would hurt him while moving around like other dogs at the shelter.

Derby’s twisted legs made it hard to find appropriate prosthetics, and the shelter workers had lost hope for him. But then Tara Anderson from “3D Systems” offered to foster him and assembled a team to explore possibilities for providing Derby with his own prosthetic legs. After multiple design trials, the team finally came up with a customized 3D model that would fit Derby’s unique shape perfectly.

Derby’s experience with 3D prosthetics was impressive. He could walk and run again, and the prosthetics were customized to fit his height and size. Initially, he received prosthetics with a low height, which were gradually increased to his ideal height. After receiving his “3D legs,” Derby was adopted by a loving couple and now lives a dream life, thanks to technology and the kindness of some big-hearted humans.
