I came home alone.
Thank you for choosing to spend your wonderful life with me.
My heart is physically hurting but I'm so so grateful to have shared your existence.
The best boy there ever was.
My custard mule.
Sleep well Rexy.

Jason Dunne, from Exmouth, England, bid farewell to his cherished dog, Rex, who passed away recently. Jason shared his feelings on Twitter, expressing gratitude for the time he spent with Rex, calling him “the best boy there ever was.” Although Rex’s passing was peaceful, Jason was deeply affected by the loss and wanted to create a meaningful memorial.

Reflecting on the countless beach walks he enjoyed with Rex, where they met other dog owners and their furry friends, Jason decided to establish a fitting tribute. On the beach, he placed a box of tennis balls accompanied by a heartwarming message and a photo of Rex. The message encouraged beachgoers to take a tennis ball for their dogs, allowing them to enjoy a game of catch in memory of Rex.

The note read:
“Rex loved the beach, Rex loved the ball, Please feel free to take a ball for your dog & I hope you all enjoy this place as much as we did.
Rex – Sleep well my ginger prince.”
For Jason, this act of kindness was a way to have one last beach day with his beloved companion. He referred to Rex as a “once-in-a-lifetime dog” who had profoundly impacted their lives.
The loss is hitting in waves.

The kindness of people has been felt deeply.
I will read and reply to all your kind comments when I get my mojo back.
Rex brought out the "Good Twitter" – good boy Rexy.
See you soon.
Much love.💛 pic.twitter.com/HDhFSKhJ6K
The tribute undoubtedly brought smiles and perhaps a few tears to beachgoers, and Jason hoped that they would embrace their pets and continue the cycle of kindness in memory of Rex. He acknowledged the overwhelming support from the community and the touching messages he received from people who had lost their pets or were embarking on new journeys with their puppies.
“Exmouth came together in kindness. That’s his legacy. Hug your pets. Be more Rex,” Jason remarked.
