Jack, a senior dog, arrived at the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society in Virginia scared and depressed. The staff noticed that he would place his face in the corner of his kennel whenever they entered, so they would have to pick him up. However, they also found that he would become more alive when he was taken outside.

After a month at the shelter, Susie’s Senior Dogs decided to help find Jack a forever home. They shared a post on Facebook, stating that Jack had never shown any aggression towards the staff or volunteers despite his fear of the shelter. They also expressed their heartbreak at the thought of Jack living his entire life in loneliness.

Thankfully, their post received many inquiries about Jack, who is heartworm positive and has bad hips and pre-renal kidney disease. A lovely young lady came directly to the shelter to meet Jack with her other canine companion, and the meeting went great. The woman fell in love with Jack, who was also friendly with her, and decided to adopt him to live with her other dog.

Jack’s story has a happy ending, and it’s a reminder that senior dogs still have so much love to give. Share this heartwarming story with your family and friends… >> RELATED POST: Little chained dog that had to eat off the ground, is given a bed and blanket
