When Phil Kriens returned home from his deployment in Afghanistan in 2009, his wife surprised him with a rescue Pit Bull puppy named Cotton. Found starving in a locked shed with open wounds, Cotton was rescued by the Oregon Humane Society. Sadly, Cotton was also found to be deaf and had several health issues, including PTSD. Despite his struggles, Phil and his wife helped Cotton live a happy life and even registered him as an emotional support service dog.

A heartwarming video captures the moment Cotton eagerly awaits Phil’s return from drill weekend. In the video, Cotton refuses to budge from the door, anxiously anticipating Phil’s arrival. Finally, after hours of waiting, Cotton sees his dad walking home and becomes overjoyed, jumping, wagging his tail, and cuddling with Phil.

Unfortunately, Cotton’s health troubles eventually worsened, and the Kriens had to put him down. This video serves as a touching tribute to Cotton’s devotion and love toward his humans. Rest in peace, Cotton.
