A blind dog, Spike, and his cat best friend, Max, have an unbreakable bond that’s stealing hearts. The pair have lived together their entire lives. After eight years with their owners, both pets were surrendered to Saving Grace Animal Society in Alberta, Canada.
Both animals spent their days living outside. The pair huddled together to stay warm, strengthening their love and dependency. Spike suffered from painful cataracts, and both eyes had to be removed. At the shelter, Max was always there to support his best friend and be his “eyes,” so to speak.
Amanda McClughan told CBC News, “Max just provides a level of comfort and support for him. He can smell him, he can feel him, and so it’s kind of a way to bring his stress and his anxiety down.”
The rescue group posted on their page, “Max is the yin to his yang. He is the constant that Spike has known throughout his life, and because of that it’s imperative they be adopted together. Max is such a character and he’s sure to keep you laughing!”
Since they’re a bonded pair, and Spike is disabled, finding a home where they can stay together wouldn’t be easy. But thankfully, they did! The Facebook post garnered so much attention that within eleven days, the duo found their happily ever after! What an incredible story!
