A sickly puppy named Coco comforted her own ailing mother while recovering at an animal rescue. The pair were suffering from severe mange when discovered by Animal Aid, an organization that helps stray dogs through medical care and shelter.

Animal Aid received a call about a starving stray dog riddled with mange, leaving her overly sensitive to infections and sunburn. Volunteers were dispatched to help but the evasive dog had a reason to avoid capture – she was a new mom. After coaxing with treats, the volunteer brought the mangy mother, nicknamed Momma, and her pup Coco to the rescue.

Vets examined Momma whose body was covered in painful mange sores. She required antibiotic ointment and medicated baths in hopes of making a full recovery. Little Coco was also treated for mange and malnutrition, receiving much needed affection from the medical team.

At first, the rescued pair were scared of their new surroundings. But after their first meal provided by a caring volunteer, warmth filled the room as the dogs finally ate.

Despite being safe now, Coco and Momma clung to each other in the strange environment. Tiny Coco could only sleep tucked into her mother’s body, their bond obvious. After weeks of treatment, Coco perked up and even started playfully annoying her mom.

In an adorable moment, little Coco watched her mother intently, imitating everything she did. If Momma scratched an ear, Coco did too. The devoted puppy didn’t take her eyes off her role model.

Though frail and sick herself, Coco comforted and learned from her mother during their recovery. The mangy pup’s efforts to reassure her own struggling mom is a testament to the power of a mother’s love.

Thanks to Animal Aid’s diligent care and this family’s unbreakable bond, both dogs made full recoveries. Their story shows why supporting animal rescue organizations is so important. Donations keep these groups able to save animals like Coco and Momma.
